A Vacant Lot in the City: Creating a New Urban Space with Their Wishes
Rokkomichi South Park is the center of the redevelopment project in the south area of Rokkomichi Station, which is one of Kobe City's reconstructions from the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake in 1995. Through designing this park, we practiced various attempts that would inspire future parks, such as playing a role as a disaster prevention park that contributes to the neighborhood, introducing urban design standards, making the park with the locals, realizing the winning design of the international competition, and forming a management organization by the locals. It's been ten years and eight months since the earthquake ― they started walking toward tomorrow together with the new park.
